My passport is due to expire soon - can I still travel?

Checking if your passport is ready for the beach can feel a bit daunting, but don’t worry—we’ve got the lowdown. ☀️

🕒 Check your validity

Most destinations outside of the EU require you to have between 3 and 6 months of validity left on your passport from the day you plan to fly home. Every country has slightly different rules, so it’s a great idea to check the specific requirements for your destination on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) website right here.

🇪🇺 Travelling within Europe?

If you are an Irish passport holder travelling within the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), your passport generally only needs to be valid for the duration of your stay.

However, some airlines or specific destinations may have their own requirements, so it is always a safe bet to have at least a few months left on your passport to avoid any hiccups at the boarding gate.

💡 Top Tip: Don't leave it late!

Passport renewals are still seeing high demand because everyone is as eager as you are to get to the sun! To avoid any pre-holiday panic, we recommend checking your expiry date now.

If you’re running low on time, start that renewal process well in advance. We really, really want to get you to that beach, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry! 🏖️
