What’s the difference between a Cancellation Letter and a No Show Letter?

If you're making a claim through your travel insurance, they may ask for a Cancellation Letter or a No Show Letter.

These letters confirm different things about your booking, so it's important to request the right one to help your claim go smoothly.

Here’s a quick guide to help you work out which one you need 👇

❌ Cancellation Letter

A Cancellation Letter confirms that your holiday was cancelled before you travelled.

Your insurance provider may ask for this letter so they can see:

📅 when the booking was cancelled

💰 the total cost of the holiday

💳 any refunds that have already been issued

📄 the remaining amount that wasn't refunded

You’ll usually need a Cancellation Letter if you had to cancel your holiday before departure, for example due to illness, injury, or another unexpected situation.

✈️ No Show Letter

A No Show Letter confirms that the booking wasn't cancelled, but a passenger didn't travel or use any part of the holiday.

Your insurance provider may ask for this if someone:

✈️ missed their flight and didn't travel

⏰ couldn't travel on the day of departure

🏨 didn’t check in to the hotel

This letter confirms that the booking remained active, but the passenger didn’t use the flights or accommodation.

⚠️ Just a heads-up: we can only issue No Show Letters after the return date of the holiday has passed, as we need to confirm with our suppliers that the passenger(s) didn’t travel.

Not sure which one you need? 🤔

❌ If you cancelled your holiday before you travelled, you'll need a Cancellation Letter.

✈️ If the booking wasn't cancelled but some or all passengers didn’t travel, you'll need a No Show Letter.

If you're unsure which one your insurer needs, it's always best to double-check with them before getting in touch with us.

⚠️ Important to know

A booking can only be recorded as cancelled before travel or a no show, not both.

If a Cancellation Letter has already been issued for your booking, we won’t be able to provide a No Show Letter, and vice versa.

If you’re unsure which letter your insurance provider requires, we recommend checking with them before requesting one.
